Current Vacancies in BOSCORF

Position 1: Curatorial Assistant

This role will support the operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments and core loggers and assist visitors and other users of the repository (mainly scientific researchers and postgraduate students). You will also be involved in the maintenance of BOSCORF-held analogue and web resources. You will assist in archiving cores in the core repository and help maintain data catalogues of holdings.

This is a Fixed Term Appointment for 8 months under NERC terms and conditions and is open to internal and external candidates.

About you

As a graduate in Earth Sciences you will:

  • possess as a minimum a bachelor degree in a directly relevant Earth Sciences discipline or a degree in a related discipline with relevant experience
  • you will have experience working within a sediment laboratory and an understanding of sediment core logging techniques
  • it is essential that you are able to examine and understand a range of sediment core datasets
  • you will also be expected to take the lead in the maintenance of the BOSCORF website.

Position 2: Data Management Assistant

This role will support the digital curation of the collected sediment core data. You will be involved in managing the metadata and imagery submissions to international data repositories. You will also be involved in the organisation of BOSCORF-held analogue data and maintaining the core holdings catalogue. You will assist in data quality checks and data interpretation.

This is a Fixed Term Appointment, available for 9 months offered on NERC terms and conditions and is open to internal and external candidates.

About you:

As a graduate in Earth Sciences you will have:

  • possess as a minimum a bachelor degree in a directly relevant Earth Sciences discipline or a degree in a related discipline with relevant experience
  • good organisational and team working skills
  • experience in managing large datasets
  • experience working within a sediment laboratory and an understanding of sediment core logging techniques is desirable.
