Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF)

In August 2023, we began our journey to enhance the sustainability of the BOSCORF labs by joining the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF). Established by University College London (UCL), LEAF aims to improve the sustainability and efficiency of laboratories.

Goals and Achievements

2023 Goals:

  • Bronze Status: Targeted for the end of 2023
2023 Achievements:
  • By the end of 2023, we achieved Bronze Status. Across the wider organisation, NOC achieved Bronze status for 99% of Science & Technology (S&T) labs, surpassing expectations in a very short time.

2024 Goals:

  • Silver Status: Targeted for the end of 2024
  • Gold Status: Targeted for 2025
2024 Achievements:

We are pleased to announce that after our first audit on July 16, 2024, BOSCORF successfully achieved Silver Status. This significant milestone reflects our team’s continued commitment to sustainability.
